Spring time feels like the best time of year for so many reasons
The sun is warmer, the days are longer, all of the trees and flowers are blooming, and (of course) it’s finally patio season!… it really feels like we all come out of our shells around this time. (Unfortunately this year has taken a little longer than usual). *eye roll*
Spring is all about doing some much needed spring-cleaning, organizing, and gardening. It’s also a perfect time to give your health a fresh start and do a little detoxifying as well!
During the last 60 to 70 years thousands of new chemicals have been developed, and that number is still increasing every day. All of these chemicals are used in things like our shampoos, toothpastes, make-up, food additives, household cleaners, EMF pollution, environmental pollution… the list goes on.
Detoxifying or cleansing gives our bodies a chance to rid itself of all these extra harmful toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis. You don’t need to commit to a drastic cleanse to help flush these toxins out of your system.
Your Daily Cleansing Routine – Simply Natural
Here are some simple and helpful tips that you can incorporate into your daily routine to improve your health and help transition into the spring and summer seasons feeling your best!
Drink an Abundance of Filtered Water
H20 is everything when it comes to detoxing or cleansing.
Water is necessary for all functions of the body. Your organs, digestive system, excreting toxins, promoting healthy skin and hair, weight-loss, etc.
Without proper hydration, your body works a lot harder to do any of its normal functions.
Dehydration can lead to a drop in energy levels, muscle cramps, constipation, headaches, acne, excess hunger/weight-gain, and dizziness.
The average person should be consuming at least 6 to 8 glasses of water per day, and even more when activity levels are higher. Try adding ingredients like lemon, cucumber, and mint for extra nutrients and for more of a detoxifying effect.
Dark Leafy Greens and Deep Coloured Vegetables
Parsley, cilantro, spirulina/chlorella (blue-green algae), alfalfa sprouts, kale and spinach are all powerful detoxifying plants and herbs containing chlorophyll that help rid chemicals and heavy metals from our bodies and work to protect the liver.
These foods contain an abundance of B-vitamins which are necessary for cell growth, regulating fat metabolism, combating fatigue and depression, and for improving immunity and healing.
You can juice them, make smoothies with them, or add them to salads. Green leafy vegetables should be consumed on a daily basis. Head to the Farmers market for some local and organic greens!

Vitamin C also plays a large role in collagen formation which helps preserve the integrity of muscles, blood vessels and body tissues.
Citrus fruits, broccoli, red peppers, kale and strawberries all have high levels of vitamin C that you can get through your diet!
Apple Cider Vinegar
This stuff is probably one of the most natural multi-use products out there! It’s not only good for eliminating your symptoms of bloating/gas/heartburn, but it’s also amazing for your skin, hair and even weight-loss.
Try adding 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar into a glass of warm water with lemon every morning to reap the benefits.
The more we move into the warmer months, the less we crave the hot and heavy foods, and tend to reach for more cooling foods such as salads and raw vegetables.
Raw veggies are amazing for detoxifying as they help purge your liver of toxins and harmful chemicals because of the naturally occurring sulfur and glutathione (antioxidant) they contain.

By now I’m sure you’ve learned a little about how bad it really is for our bodies, so it would be a no-brainer as to why you’d want to cut this bad-boy out if you haven’t already.
Not only does it leach important vitamins and minerals we want to hold onto from our bones, it increases bad cravings, causes weight gain, headaches, lowers the immune system, leaves you feeling irritable, and is one of the leading causes to countless diseases.
Excess sugar toxicity is definitely going to stop you from feeling your best, so do yourself a favor and kick that white stuff out the door before it’s too late!
